"Coronavirus Facts and Fears" - A CNN Town Hall

March 2020

In the world of 24-hour news, stories come and go quickly. When the pandemic first started, we weren't sure how long it would be an important story to follow. At a certain point, though, it was clear that CNN could play a bigger part in answering some of the many questions that the public had. So they decided to host a town hall where questions could be submitted from social media and from the audience, and CNN would consult with experts to get them answered. The first of these was in March of 2020, when things first started getting serious. The show was well recieved, and it ran weekly for a few months, and then occasionally resurfaced when it seemed like there were new questions to cover. In total, there were 26 iterations of the show.

I was assigned to design the branding, graphics package, and scenic elements of the show. We wanted the map information to be accurate, so we fed it map data that was updated with every show. When the lockdown happened, and everyone started to work from home, we had to adjust quickly, and the show was reworked to no longer have a live audience. Instead, it was hosted remotely by the anchors, sometimes from their own homes.
